GFG LOW PROFILE Vertical Roll Coater conserves space and the environment.
Saving floor space and the environment were two critical issues we had in mind when developing our latest roll coater. The GFG LOW PROFILE is a space-saving vertical coater that features a dramatically lower profile, measuring just 43” (1100mm) to the top of the roll and 53” (1350mm) to the top of the guard, allowing for easy installation in tight places and convenient viewing of roll surfaces and nips during operation. It was redesigned for forward and reverse application of coatings such as anti-finger print, chromate, phosphate, and paint.
The Low Profile is also eco-friendly, as it eliminates the need for large holding tanks required by outdated spray systems, thereby reducing chromates and other environmental waste.
Another benefit of the Low Profile coater is it eliminates the need for a platform and allows for quick and easy roll changing. It handles roll combinations up to 14” (355mm) applicators and 12” (305mm) pickups which will provide excellent roll life and the ability to handle very high speed applications.
This coater is also available with the options GFG offers on other coating lines such as load cells for nip force measurement, linear transducers for roll positioning, and even complete drive packages featuring C-face or IEC motor to reducer connections to further reduce maintenance down-time just like the rest of the coater.
Other features include:
• Redesigned shields contain slinging during high speed operation and keep coating materials either in the pan or accurately applied to the strip.
• The nip guard is integrated with the sling shields and features a mechanism to prevent false alarms and keep the coater running while still allowing easy cleanup and roll changes which are further enhanced by the use of GFG’s standard quick disconnect drive couplings.
• 3D design allowed for careful assessment of the guards and shields to be sure all of the precision linear bearings and roll positioning screws are protected during the setup and cleaning processes.
• The drive shafts are covered by easily-retracting guards which slide out of the way without using additional floor space to provide convenient access to the quick disconnect couplings and drive shaft supports.
• The operator side guard provides protection for the space between the applicator rolls and can easily be paired with strip guarding to provide a safe work environment for operators.
